Poetry Collections

Shadow Songs, Erica’s first book, was published in 2020. The collection explores themes of grief, loss, and personal growth. In 2021, Echoes in the Void was published and offered an expansion on the topics of Shadow Songs. The second collection deals with the transformation that occurs as our grief ages and all the nuances involved as we gain a deeper appreciation for our own past. Erica’s latest poetry collection, Romanticized Ruin, will be available December 17th, 2024.

Shadow Songs

This is the story of a journey through the dark, damp depths to find the light. In these pages you will find a reminder that your shadow songs are worthy. Each of us must face the seasons of our lives. Some are brighter than others, but they all serve a purpose. The pain that we feel in the dark can always give way to a beautiful new beginning if only we find the strength to brave the light.

Available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Books-A-Million.

Echoes in the Void

This is a continuation of the journey that began in Shadow Songs. Echoes in the Void is a poetry collection that focuses on the aging of grief. These pages offer a glimpse of the struggle to develop a deeper understanding of the experiences that shape us and the shifting of focus that time so often offers. I’ve pondered what it is that has pushed me to strive to unearth some hidden purpose, and I’ve seen those same expectations wreak havoc on my sanity. The sting of time and the uncertainty of shifting seasons is evident, but without that pain there could never be a true appreciation of what joy can be found in each individual moment.

Available on Amazon and Books-A-Million.

Romanticized Ruin

In her latest collection of poetry, Romanticized Ruin, Erica Adelaide Johnsonexplores the challenges of creating a future that is not about mere survival but about thriving in the aftermath of tragedy and trauma. With themes focusing on the lasting effects of grief that run deeper and become a part of who you are, this collection acknowledges the fact that it can be daunting to step into stillness after spending so much time treading water in the chaos, but also recognizes that the healing process is capable of unearthing an entirely new facet of inner strength.

Allowing yourself to look towards the future doesn’t mean you lose sight of your previous experiences. They transform and grow with you. Our past does not define our potential, but rather, it serves as a reminder of the strength that has always existed within.
